Click on Options, then click on Change Password.

For staff info. go to: http://finger.sewanee.edu
For student info. go to: http://finger.sewanee.edu/angels.html
Eudora users can set this up in tDirectory services settings.

Note: Finger will only work on the local network.

There is a built-in email feature in Blackboard; but if you would like to setup a separate list, contact the Helpdesk for further details.

How do I subscribe to the mailing lists available? How do these lists work?
NOTE: You need to be a member of any list, before you can send mail to it.

SUBSCRIBING TO A LIST

Send a message to:
majordomo@sewanee.edu. In the body of the message, include the command 'subscribe listname'. Example: 'subscribe classifieds'.

If you ever want to remove yourself from a list send 'unsubscribe listname'.

Below is a list of the some common distribution list maintained by C&NS:

- admstaff - all administrative staff
- cfaculty - all college faculty
- classifieds - a personal swap & shop of sorts
- cstudent - all college students
- facstaff - all faculty and administrative staff
- jfaculty - all college faculty, all theology faculty, other administrative officials
- tfaculty - all theology faculty
- tigersports - News and information concerning sports for Sewanee teams
- tstaff - all theology staff
- tstudent - all theology students

No. Our present licensing agreement prohibits installations on non-university owned machines.

Faculty, staff, and students can get free access to our modem banks. Contact the Helpdesk to request an account.

What options are available for high-speed internet access at my residence?
For cable modem access, call 1-888-GETCHARTER or go to the Charter.net website and enter your street address. For DSL access, call 931-557-6500 or go to the Bell South web site and enter your phone number.

Where can I take my home computer for service?
CNS staff can help with hardware installations, general troubleshooting, configuration problems, etc. free of charge. Requests are done on an ‘as-time-allows’ basis since day-to-day operations take first priority. You may be helped within minutes or it may take as long as a few days, depending on the time of year and present workload.

Is the server down?
We have almost 30 fileservers on campus, chances are the server is not down. Check all cables. Try restarting your computer, then if the problem continues, call the Helpdesk at x1369.

How do I get to Public Info, on Angelnet fileserver?
From a browser go to:
http://angelnet.sewanee.edu

Or to logon to the server:

On a Mac, under the Go menu, pull down to Connect to server and type:

angelnet.sewanee.edu then logon using:

Username: guest
Password: guest

On a PC, under the Start menu, pull up to Run and type:

\\angelnet.sewanee.edu

Use the same username and password as listed above.

I can receive, but not send email from off-campus?
If you use an email program like Eudora or Outlook and want to send mail through an ISP other than Sewanee, (ie. Charter or Bellsouth), you may need to reconfigure the Outgoing mail server settings.

CNS suggests using “mail.sewanee.edu” for the Outgoing server and change the Outgoing Port from 25 to 587.
