One of the highlights of the school year at Sewanee are the annual Advent services of Lessons and Carols that regularly attract as many as 3000 people to campus. At these services, the University Choir performs with special guest instrumentalists and premiers works that have been composed especially for the choir.

The University Choir is an active touring ensemble. It has performed extensively throughout the southeastern United States as well as in Colorado, New York and Canada. Since 1979, the choir has made eight tours of England, singing the service of Choral Evensong in more than 20 cathedrals and abbey churches. These include the cathedrals of Winchester, Salisbury, Wells, Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford, Bristol, York Minster and Windsor Castle, as well as the abbeys of Bath, Tewkesbury and Westminster. The University Choir plans to return to York Minster, England in the spring of 2007.
