The Sewanee Summer Music Festival enrolls over 200 students each year from across the U.S. and around the world who come here to continue their musical training in an intense, inspiring, and fun-filled atmosphere. Students are selected for admission to the The Sewanee Summer Music Festival on the basis of performance ability and musical background.
All students must have reached the age of 12 by the opening of the season, and there is no upper age limit. The Festival supports two full student orchestras, the Sewanee Symphony and the Sewanee Philharmonia, as well as one faculty/student orchestra, the Festival Orchestra, with appropriate numbers of each instrument selected for admission. The piano and harp divisions accept additional students as positions are available.
